Updated: An Fast and Easy Way to Save 100% On Your eBay Listing Fees
if you have an eBay shop you’ll know you can list items and let your listings continue month after month, and sometimes those listings do make money and sometimes they don’t.
As you’ll no doubt agree, it’s very tempting to let listings remain online, without any extra work or effort involved, and costing just twenty or thirty pence per listing per month.
But those twenty and thirty pence or cent a time fees really add up if you have hundreds or thousands of items listed in your shop – and no one ever wanting to buy them!
The reality is you can waste a lot of money every year listing goods that will never sell. That is, unless you hit the ‘Watchers’ button top of your eBay listings and check just how many people have already viewed your listing and decided to add their names to your watchers list. The more watchers there are, obviously the more chance your product will sell, maybe not in the short term, but probably within the year.
Before we begin work on this idea, let me tell you why keeping a close eye on watcher numbers is such a good idea.
- For items you’re selling at auction and you have a specific minimum price in mind, looking at watcher totals helps you decide whether to pull your listing before the auction ends. And that way you’re sure your product won’t sell way below the price you want for it. Once you’re inside the twelve hour deadline you can only pull a listing if no one is currently bidding. Fail to pull a listing without watchers and bidders before the twelve hour deadline and you’re pretty much committed to selling the item, regardless of how little it fetches. Thankfully, it’s pretty safe to conclude, if an auction listing has no watchers and just one or no current bidders it’s not going to fetch much more than it’s current listing price. So it might be a good idea to end your listing pronto. Double figure watchers, however, and three or four people already bidding, that’s a sign of a listing that should make a good deal more than its starting price.
- For shop listings, it’s wise to sort them ‘Ending Soonest’ and study people currently watching your products. If your listing has an hour to go and no one watching, it’s unlikely to sell this time round. You can end shop listings any time you like, and if you don’t end a listing it will be automatically renewed and stay another month in your shop. That’s fine for items listed recently where the best items typically sell in the first one or two months in your shop, but not for items that have been running for six months or more without gaining watchers. Personally I’d say if an item’s been listed in your shop for more than six months without attracting at least two watchers, it’s unlikely to sell sometime soon and constant relisting can decimate your profits. Go end listings like that and save yourself money!
Now back to how this ‘Watchers’ idea works.
- When you hit ‘Watchers’ top of your listings, eBay will usually rank your listings from highest to lowest number of watchers and this information proves vital to your chance of making big profits or losing a fortune!
You may have to click on the Watchers button twice because sometimes eBay lists lowest numbers first, while we want only high watcher totals. Now go through listings, leaving those with lots of watchers to run another few months, and end those without watchers and already several months online and soon to be relisted.
Do this every day and the savings will be substantial.
