Simple Secret to Ensure More
People Read Your eZine and Buy What You are Promoting
Many people send their ezines in
their entirety via an email, usually comprising plain text, without
graphics, and sometimes including the odd active link to whatever the
ezine publisher is promoting.
That’s a sure-fire recipe for
disaster, for one main reason:
Most people go online to find
several emails in their box, all awaiting reply. Your email might
be one of ten or twenty vying for recipients’ attention. What
usually happens is that recipients focus first on emails from employers
or customers. Then they open your email and, spotting hundreds of
lines of plain boring text with nothing specific to catch their
attention, they decide to read your letter later, when more time is
available, only most people forget!
There’s a much easier way to
make sure your email is opened and acted on right away. You do it
by publishing your ezine to its own specific web page and in your email
you give readers a link to that web site with an exciting message
telling why readers should visit your page right away. Most people
will click on that link right away and, being greeted with a colourful
and professional web site, most will stay awhile to read your ezine and
potentially purchase whatever you are promoting.
There’s another reason why it’s
a good idea to have your ezine published online instead of being sent by
email. The fact is emails quickly get binned or overlooked or lost
in the jungle of competing emails. Web sites can stay online
forever and be read many times by current ezine members and others who
find your web site through search engines or from mentions in articles,
blog postings, and so on.
So rather than adding the entire
text of your ezine to your emails, say something like this:
Your copy of XXXX is waiting for
you right now at:
www.avrilharper.com/nobrainermoneymaker.html
That’s okay, but it isn’t good,
that link does not create any urgency for people receiving your email to
move quickly to read your ezine.
That short mention in your email
need to be exciting, it must create urgency, it must make recipients
rush to click through to your web page, they must never be tempted to
close the email to attend to it later.
This message should definitely
be more successful than that earlier bland invitation to visit your
newsletter page:
It’s Here Now. It’s what
you’ve been waiting for! Get your early bird bonus gift ‘No
Brainer Instant Cash Cows’ at: www.avrilharper.com/nobrainerinstantcashcows.html
It’s still not perfect but I’m
willing to bet many more people will click on that link immediately they
access your email than will click on the earlier link or the original
boring complete ezine text email.
Incidentally, don’t try finding
those pages, they’re examples only, the don’t really exist!
